Enter the total wall width and wall height. Then enter the roll dimensions and pattern repeat from the product label, along with the trim allowance you plan to use. To subtract doors and windows, enter their combined area.

How the estimate is calculated
The calculator first applies any door and window deduction you enter to the wall coverage. It then adds the selected waste percentage. Trim allowance is added to wall height, and each strip’s cut length is rounded up to the next full pattern repeat. The calculator uses the adjusted coverage to estimate strips, finds the usable strips per roll, and rounds up to full rolls.
Example
For 40 ft of wall at 8 ft high, a 20.5 in × 33 ft roll, a 6 in repeat, and 3 in trim allowance produce an 8.5 ft cut length. The result is 24 strips, three usable strips per roll, and eight full rolls before additional waste or door and window deductions.
Before you buy
Confirm whether the seller uses single rolls, double rolls, or bolts, and enter the physical dimensions printed for the product. Buy the required rolls from the same dye lot when the manufacturer identifies dye lots.
A door or window deduction reduces the estimated area, but it may not reduce the number of full strips needed for the actual layout.
Frequently asked questions
Why does pattern repeat increase the result?
Each strip must start at a matching point, so part of the roll may be unusable between cuts.
Should every door and window be subtracted?
Only enter a deduction when you want it applied. Small openings may not save a full strip in the actual layout.
